Gilles Polet (May 9, 1984) first trained as an actor at the Lemmensinsituut in Leuven before he moved to Leeds to study at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. He graduated from P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels in 2008.
Since graduating his work has been ranging from opera with Deborah Warner in La Monnaie, Brussels, to movie shorts with the directors Dimitri Karakatsanis, Andrew Ly and Kevin Calero.
Gilles Polet has been part of the creation and performances of ‘Shock’ by David Zambrano, ‘Orgy of Tolerance’ and ‘Prometheus-Landscape II’ by Jan Fabre, ‘Bluff’ by Alexandra Bachzetsis and ‘Longdistance Hotel’, a theatre performance created online over a period of six months by six european artists and premiered in theater Maria Matos, Lisbon.
Besides touring his own works ‘Jack-in-the-Box’ and ‘Simurgh’, Gilles Polet continues to collaborate with Troubleyn/Jan Fabre.
Gilles Polet is currently touring with Jan Fabre for the two re-enactments ‘This is theatre like it was to be expected and foreseen’ and ‘The power of theatrical madness’ where he plays the role of the emperor. He is also currently performing in ‘Mount Olympus, to glorify the cult of tragedy, a 24h performance’ by Troubleyn/Jan Fabre.

Gilles Polet also has a diploma from Balanced Body Pilates and was awarded Dance Web scholarship at Impulstanz in 2009.

Gilles Polet was Dance Ambassador for Nationa(a)l 2014, and choregraphed our opening show, mixing dance, fashion and live music into one creative explosion. See the pictures here.

Gilles was selected again in 2016 to participate in the Nationa(a)l Talent Hole residency programme, where he will be sharing a workshop with Marie Helpin.

He will be working on his project “A conference of birds” in collaboration with Nathan French, costume designer and sculptor.
